3 Proven Ways To Fill Your First Paint Class – Even if You Have No Following

Get your seats filled and make $200-$400 in one evening–no giant audience required.

So you’ve decided to teach a paint class. Awesome.
But there’s one big, scary question hanging over your head:

“Who the hell’s even going to show up?”

If the idea of an empty room terrifies you more than that first brush stroke, you’re in the right place. Here are 3 kick‑ass tactics to get real people in seats for your very first pop‑up paint class—no followers, no fancy website, no bullshit.

1. Leverage Your Inner Circle—Without Being “That Friend”

Your first fans are probably sitting in your DMs, not on Instagram.

  • Pick 5–7 people who’ve bought your work or cheered you on.

  • Slide into their inbox with a personal note:

“Hey [Name], I’m trying out my first live paint event on 2025 at [venue]. Would you be up for coming and bringing a friend?”

  • Offer an incentive—a free drink or discount. People love VIP treatment.

Why it works: Personal asks convert way higher than mass posts. And when your friends bring friends, you’re already at 6–8 attendees.

2. Partner with a Local Hot Spot—They Do the Heavy Lifting

Taprooms, cafés, co‑working spaces—they all want foot traffic and something cool to promote.

  • Identify 3–5 spots that fit your vibe.

  • Pitch it like this:

“I host beginner‑friendly pop‑up paint nights that bring in 10–20 new faces for you. You provide the space, I bring the people—and we split the extras (drinks, snacks) or I pay a flat space fee.”

  • Get them to advertise on their channels: in‑house flyers, social stories, email blasts.

Why it works: They have an existing audience. You get credibility and an instant crowd.

3. Micro‑Marketing Magic—Targeted, Not Viral

Forget hashtags and hoping to go viral. Play small, play local.

  • Create a simple graphic (include a photo, the date/time, and a short hook).

  • Post it in local Facebook groups, Nextdoor, community event boards.

  • Send it to 10–15 local email contacts.

  • Use direct messaging to warm contacts: “Hey, saw you liked [related interest page]—I’m hosting a paint night next week. Thought you might be into it!”

Why it works: You’re reaching people already in your area who are primed for a night out. A few direct messages beat a thousand random posts.
